The Ambrogio L50 from AutoLawnMow is expected to handle up to 1/4 acre lawn making it perfect for houses with small lawn areas. The Ambrogio L50 is far and away the simplest robot mower on the market.

When the mower detects that it is no longer on grass it will stop and go in another direction. If it approaches a cliff, like a curb or a wide hole, it will also react and chose another direction. Being about 2 feet long and about a foot wide, the mower is very light, less than 20 pounds.

Launching 2009

Its handle can be picked up and returned to the charger with ease. The mower is very sensitive when the mower bumps into anything the sensors notices the wheels are not moving forward and changes direction.

The L50 no longer relies on the bump sensor of previous units. The sensors for this mower are located in the wheels. If at any point in time the mower does not see one wheel turning, it will try and back up or spin in a new direction. The mower is 4 wheel drive so even if one wheel is in a hole the other 3 wheels should be able to pull it free of most situations.

The mower follows the humidity of your grass. So if you have a patch of dead grass in the yard, the mower will avoid running over it, giving the chance for that grass to grow back quickly.

The mower is powered by a lithium ion battery, which is a very high tech battery and is the same battery pack they use to power the EVO suits used by astronauts when they do Space Walks. The battery is very resistant to extreme temperature changes, hot or cold.
